Chocolate Letters
So here it is, like I promised. Sorry it’s a bit late. Some of my classmates put it on their blogs already so it’s old news but I wanted to wait until the whole process was finished. But as far as I know Daniel and I are the first ones to use our moulds and actually make chocolate letters. Here’s the rough story: We all bought clay, and made our letters. The next week, amongst our class, Erik gave us some feedback and we made changes, some people even started again. You can see it in the pictures that the apex of my m wasn’t running in the centre and the thin parts were too fragile. I made them thicker and fixed the shape of the letter. Then I sanded it down a bit and packed it up. Erik kindly donated his knowledge, home and time on a Sunday before Sinterklaas. It was really nice, the whole class was there and a few different teachers stopped by too. The process was to put our clay letter on top of an airtight box with a vent on the top side with suction provided by the vacuum cleaner. We then put a wooden frame with a special plastic stapled to it inside the oven. When it started to melt we pulled it out, flipped it upside down and put it over the vent, the plastic is then moulded to the shape of the clay letter. Unfortunately, it’s then quite difficult to get the letter out, we made a grave yard of dead letters and Aliz formed it into something nice. The rest the pictures can tell!

Ate it last night. Delicious.
